Surrealism - Final Render

Ok, so I trailed off a bit from the original reference images I collated on the moodboard, but I am really happy with the end result. From the start I really liked the idea of using an eye ball in the scene, so I have kept that. I decided to experiment with Mental Ray in order to give the scene a very 'finished' and realistic look. I used the MR Sun and MR Sky systems to create the scene lighting and used Mental Ray's Arch & Design tool set to create the water effect. I would like to further explore the elements that are behind the Mental Ray system, as it can be a very powerful tool for creating 3D concept design and ultra realistic looking materials and surfaces.

Watching Manhatten

Just a fun little extra thing I decided to do using the 3D eye that I have made as part of my final piece.

War Brief - Death from Above - The Automated Sci-fi Quadrotor with Mounted Plasma Cannon!!!

For this brief, I wanted to do something radical. I wanted to avoid doing something generic or simple like a gun or a tank. Originally I was going to do a sci-fi gun turret, but I also wanted to do some sort of vehicle, so I decided to combine the two. I am very pleased with the results. With some more time spent on the model, it could be possible to have it textured, or perhaps used as a high poly to low poly conversion model, baking the lighting from the high poly model onto the low poly model, which could then be used in a game.

Self Portrait - Final Image

The finished piece. Overall I am really happy with the result.

Self Portrait Workings

Using Mudbox I made the main shape and structure of the Terminator skull, adding some of the promenant details. I exported it into 3Ds Max where I cut it down and added the eye and jaw support geometry. I then used the front on shot to merge into the photograph I took of myself.

Self Portrait Images 2 - Change of Idea

After some time I decided to change my idea. I couldn't think of anything that inspired me enough to actually get the work rolling, so I came up with the idea of making myself into a terminator. This enabled me to use 3D to make something cool, and still incorporate 2D elements with Photoshop as well.

Self Portrait Research Images

These images reflect the sort of thing I was wanting to do to begin with. I wanted to do something unusual and eye catching, so I looked into the idea of doing an abstract piece
